Chittoor creates 1.07 lakh farm ponds
Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh has made a name for itself by creating 1,07,000 farm ponds, the largest number in the country. While it has commenced construction of rooftop rainwater harvesting structures atop government buildings, it has also constructed a large number of rainwater harvesting and bore well recharge structures on the ground, many of which have been recharged.
Having constructed 293 community sanitary complexes (CSCs) over the last 2-3 years, the district administration of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra is ensuring that the facilities are regularly used and maintained by the village communities.
To engage migrant workers that have returned from other States to Sitamarhi District in Bihar, handwashing campaigns have been held, the activity contributing to making people aware of the proper techniques of handwashing to protect themselves from the spread of coronavirus infection.
