Tirunelveli fosters sustainable sanitation
The district Administration of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu had encouraged all village panchayats in its 19 Blocks to participate in the Swachh Sundar Samudayik Shauchalaya (SSSS) Competition. Under the initiative, village communities were required to construct community sanitary complexes and maintain and beautify existing ones.
Construction of Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs) as a part of the ongoing Samudayik Shauchalaya Abhiyan (SSA) is making headway across the country as 17 districts have achieved 100 per cent CSC coverage (at least one geo-tagged CSC in every village).
To provide insights into the various elements of ODF Plus, how it can be measured and the implementation process, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti organised a webinar for State and District officials from across the country.
